Gold Price Today Privacy Policy
This policy explains data handling in the Gold Price Today Android app, provided by Mithqal Labs. It does not describe the separate Mithqal website price tools.
Last updated: (UTC)
Android package: com.gold.price.today. This English page is the primary version of the policy; an Arabic translation is available using the language link above.
What the app does
The app displays spot-derived gold reference values and provides a gold-value calculator and market/language settings. Reference values are not verified local retail, jeweller buying or selling prices, and do not include shop-specific charges.
There is no account or login, advertising, purchase flow, portfolio, or social feature. The app does not request your name, email address, payment details, contacts, photos, or precise device location. Choosing a market is a preference, not location tracking.
Data on your device
The app stores market, language and currency preferences, refresh timing and the last refresh error category, and the last successful price response with its source timestamps in its private device storage. These support your chosen presentation, refresh limits and offline reference values. Currency defaults to the selected market unless you choose another available currency. Device language/region settings can help choose an initial presentation without using GPS.
Calculator inputs, including weight and karat, are processed on your device. The app does not send your calculator inputs or calculated amounts to an analytics or price service.
Network and price-data processing
Price fetching is not configured in the current release. It does not currently make price-data requests. When price access is enabled, the app is designed to retrieve gold reference prices, exchange rates and source timestamps over HTTPS, and keep the last successful result on your device.
A service receiving a network request ordinarily receives technical information such as the requesting IP address, request time and protocol/request metadata needed to deliver and protect the service. Calculator inputs are not needed for price requests. The production price-service route has not yet been activated; this policy will be reviewed before that changes, including identifying the receiving service. We do not describe a planned proxy or a direct provider connection as already operating.
The app identifies Metals.dev as the source of spot reference data. That source label is not a claim that the current release sends requests directly to Metals.dev. For the separate Saudi website's calculations, see the website price methodology; that page is not a description of the Android app's network route.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics
The app includes Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. In the current release, Firebase Analytics collection and automatic Crashlytics crash-report collection are disabled. App analytics event logging is also disabled. The app does not submit analytics events or automatically upload crash reports in this configuration.
Firebase components can still initialize and maintain local technical state, including session or diagnostic files. Disabled collection does not mean the SDKs are absent or that every SDK-related network operation is blocked. There is currently no in-app switch for enabling analytics or crash reporting. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any disclosures or choices required before enabling collection.
For Google's explanation of these services, see Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy. Those general descriptions do not override the disabled collection state described above.
Contact, service providers and sharing
If you email us, your email address, message and any attachments pass through email service providers so we can respond. Please do not send passwords, API keys, payment details or other unnecessary sensitive information.
The app has no advertising or data-sale feature. Handling by technical service providers is described above, rather than a claim that the app never involves a third party.
Opening a source link, this policy or another website uses your browser and that site's services. This policy page is hosted by Cloudflare. The existing website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for website visits; this is separate from the Android app's disabled Firebase collection. Web requests involve technical connection information. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Web Analytics.
Retention and deletion
Local preferences and cached prices remain until replaced, cleared through Android's app-storage settings, or removed when you uninstall the app. Android app backup is disabled in the current release. Clearing app storage also removes locally retained app/SDK state; it cannot delete records already held by an external service or in an email conversation.
There is no app account to delete. To ask about a message you sent us or request deletion of information you provided, email [email protected]. No fixed retention period is specified here for correspondence or service-provider operational records; provider handling is described in the linked policies.
Security
The app uses private app storage and disallows cleartext HTTP traffic. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security of a device, email message or network service.
Children's privacy
The app does not ask for age or create child profiles, and is not designed to solicit personal information from children. A parent or guardian with a privacy concern can contact us using the address below.
Changes and contact
We will publish revisions on this page and update the date when the app's data practices change.
